No laces, an exposed Air unit at the heel, a cage structure wrapping the upper — these are parts that belong on a running shoe, yet Nike used them to build out a sneaker that borrows its silhouette from Italian dress shoes. When the Air Max Dolce first dropped in the early 2000s, it was already this kind of unreasonable mashup: running tech underneath, gentleman's shoe on the outside.
In 2026, the shoe got a fresh wave of attention thanks to a black-tie-level COMME des GARÇONS HOMME collaboration, and Nike has since been rolling out general release colorways like "Light Magenta," slowly bringing Dolce back from collab-exclusive status to something you can actually cop off the shelf.
Now it's "Metallic Silver"'s turn. The entire shoe gets coated in silver — the cage upper and the Air window at the heel stay right where they were, just dressed in an extra layer of metallic shine, turning what was once a reserved dress shoe into something that looks like it just walked out of a club under strobe lights. This silver treatment isn't exclusive to the Dolce either — Nike's given the same finish to the equally formal Air Max Phenomena loafer, along with a handful of newer, futuristic-leaning silhouettes.
The "Metallic Silver" Air Max Dolce is now live on Nike Japan's website, priced at ¥21,230 (roughly $134 USD), with a wider retail rollout expected to start August 7th.
