You don't need a full Gundam-print tote bag to declare your allegiance — one cap does the job just fine. That's the straightforward logic behind New Era's latest collaboration with "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn." Released through STRICT-G, the 9FORTY A-Frame trucker cap comes in two versions, each embroidered with the emblem of one of the show's two rival factions: Anaheim Electronics, the corporate power behind the Earth Federation Forces, and the Vist Foundation, formed by remnants of the Principality of Zeon. Which one you buy is basically a quiet statement of where you stand.
The silhouette itself is the A-Frame version within New Era's 9FORTY lineup. Unlike the standard multi-panel rounded 9FORTY, the A-Frame features a single-panel front construction with a slightly tapered crown, giving it a more structured, angular profile that sets it apart from your typical logo cap at a glance. On the functional side, it keeps the classic trucker cap setup intact: breathable mesh back panel, curved brim, and an adjustable strap — nothing's been sacrificed for comfort.
The design is deliberately kept clean, with both versions featuring just a single 3D-embroidered emblem on the front — no extra text or graphic clutter. It's a "let one symbol tell the whole story" approach, making the cap easy to fold into everyday fits without needing to lean into full anime-core styling to pull it off.
The STRICT-G x New Era "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn" 9FORTY A-Frame trucker caps are slated to ship via STRICT-G in September 2026, with pre-orders closing on August 16. Pricing has yet to be announced.
