15 minutes, 4 fonts, 10 stamp designs — this time MUJI isn't launching a new product as the main event. Instead, they're handing customers a blank leather luggage tag to stamp themselves. The headline event, the "Leather Luggage Tag Workshop," kicked off on August 1 at Miramar Shopping Centre and August 2 at D2 Place. The bar for entry isn't high: MUJI app members who spend HK$300 or more on the day can use their receipt to try the letterpress stamping once, imprinting their English name plus a design of their choice onto a luggage tag. Among the offerings, 10 exclusive stamp designs were commissioned specifically for this event — think airplanes, travel icons, and other summer motifs.
The workshop isn't a one-off — it's spread across three weekends and six stores: Wai Fong on August 8, Cityplaza on August 9, Telford Plaza on August 15, and Windsor House on August 16, in addition to the first week's Miramar and D2 Place stops. Hours run from noon to 6pm daily, with limited slots available on a first-come, first-served basis. To join, you'll need to be a confirmed MUJI app member, and receipts must be original same-day copies — no photocopies or altered receipts accepted. The second track of the campaign involves a luggage trade-in gift. From July 31 to August 16 — a 17-day window — purchasing an "Adjustable Handle Luggage" at any physical MUJI store in Hong Kong or Macau (MUJI com excluded) comes with a free set of five limited-edition stickers, while supplies last. The luggage itself is priced from HK$1,080 to HK$1,880, available in three sizes from 36L to 105L, featuring a keyless TSA combination lock, adjustable handle height, quiet-rolling wheels, and recycled-material lining.
More noteworthy than the luggage, though, are a few compact travel accessories in this summer's lineup: the water-repellent backpack (HK$228) uses MUJI's own weight-distribution shoulder strap design; the nylon corner pouch (from HK$65) relies on a reinforced corner panel specifically for holding lip balm and mini bottles; and the travel tumbler comes in three sizes — 350ml, 550ml, and 800ml — starting from HK$48. What these items have in common is that they solve a specific storage problem rather than winning on looks alone — staying true to MUJI's usual approach.
