It's been seven long years since SOBxRBE last dropped new music. Now Yhung T.O., DaBoii, and Slimmy B are back with a new single called "Ten Summers," timed perfectly with the Bay Area rap group's tenth anniversary since forming in 2016.
Back in March, they played their first show in seven years, and now they're following up with their first new track, complete with a music video. In their statement, the trio describes "Ten Summers" as "coming back together on our own terms," proof that "what once felt impossible to get past, you can actually get past."
Rather than breaking down the production or lyrics, the trio chose to talk about time itself. "We were so young when we started this, and what was happening around us mattered more than the music itself," they said in the statement. "Time gave us the chance to grow up, become fathers, and figure out what really matters. We never stopped being brothers." The statement doesn't spell out exactly what happened over these seven years, but mentioning "fatherhood" alone makes clear this isn't just a simple musical comeback.
SOBxRBE already has two shows lined up this year: Back 2 the Bay in San Jose and New West Coast in Salt Lake City. The trio says more "additional dates" will be announced soon, though no further details are available yet.
