When a song shows up twice in the same show, it's usually either a slip-up in music supervision or a clue the writers planted on purpose. In Furious, Rihanna and Calvin Harris' "We Found Love" plays in both episode 2 and episode 3 — just one episode apart. That kind of repetition is rare in a needle-drop lineup, and it's got fans wondering whether it's meant to mirror the two storylines slowly converging over the course of the show.
Furious comes from The Dropout writer Elizabeth Meriwether, drawing inspiration from the 1987 film Black Widow — the Debra Winger and Theresa Russell cat-and-mouse thriller. This time around, Emmy Rossum plays FBI agent Alice Black, hunting down Lola Petticrew's serial killer character Catherine. The two women, each chasing their own version of justice, keep getting closer and closer to each other. The cast also includes Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy, Jake Lacy, Rob Yang, and Rob Delaney. The first three episodes dropped on Hulu and Disney+ on July 27, 2026, with the remaining five rolling out weekly.
The original score comes courtesy of Ariel Marx, who previously scored Shiva Baby, The Last Frontier, Black Mirror, and Dying For Sex. She's known for slipping dark comedy into suspenseful moments, and taking on a manhunt thriller like this one feels right in line with her signature style.
From Eartha Kitt to Kodak Black: The First Three Episodes' Needle Drops
Beyond the score, the show's needle drops span a pretty wide range of eras and genres — Arlo Parks' "Blue Disco" kicks things off, Geese's "Au Pays Du Cocaine" brings in some French psych flavor, Eartha Kitt's "Wonderful Illusion" plays twice in episode one, and episode three closes out with Kodak Black's "No Flocki." The whiplash between tracks is real.
